UPDATE as of 1/14/2020 4:45 pm EST:
Clearinghouse Still Experiencing Technical Difficulties
Many employers are still encountering difficulties when trying to order queries though the FMCSA Drug and Alcohol Clearinghouse. As long as the notice on the Clearinghouse remains, employers can still hire a driver using only the procedures laid out in 49 CFR 391.23(e).
Once the FMCSA has determined and announced that users are able to access the Clearinghouse, pre-employment queries must also be conducted as required by section 382.701(a).
While the Clearinghouse is active, the system is experiencing intermittent issues with verifying driver CDL information. The FMCSA says: “We are monitoring the situation and resolving issues as they arise. If you experience an issue verifying driver CDL information, please try again later.”
One of the main issues that employers and drivers alike are encountering is intermittent issues with the CDL Verifications. Due to these issues, there are times when the Clearinghouse is not accepting license numbers and therefore impeding the query process from moving forward.
Communication with Drivers
It is imperative that you continue to have communication with drivers about what actions are needed from them and that they may experience issues. This helps to ensure that the process moves as smoothly as possible, especially during these times of overload to the FMCSA website.
C/TPA Bulk Upload Unavailable
The C/TPA Bulk Upload process has been unavailable since the launch of the Clearinghouse (01/06/2020). The Clearinghouse had originally hoped to have this fixed by 01/10/2020, however this has not yet been completed. The TruckRight team has a workaround as an interim solution so there is no impact to the clients who use this service. We are still monitoring the situation and will keep our clients updated on any developments.
All queries that have been requested have been submitted and the TruckRight Clearinghouse team will continue to work on your behalf to ensure we are processing queries as quickly as the Clearinghouse will permit.
We appreciate your patience as we all work together through this challenge. We will continue to provide updates as they become available.
